HYRCAN is a free and rather simple to use slope stability analysis program, developed by Roozbeh Geraili Mikola.
Furthermore, this software can be used to calculate the factor of safety of a slope, considering a circular failure surface.
The user can choose between four different limit equilibrium analysis methods to calculate the slope’s factor of safety. Namely, these methods are the Bishop Simplified, GLE/Morgenstern-Price, Janbu Simplified, and Spencer ones.
HYRCAN also allows for the creation of complex geometries, considering different layer and support materials, as well as the addition of water tables.
Several stabilization methods can also be added to the model, while currently, the support types featured in the software are End Anchored, Grouted Tiebacks, Soil Nails, Geo Textiles, and Piles.
Finally, the user can choose between defining the slope limits manually, or letting the software do that automatically, as well as defining point, uniformly distributed, or seismic loads to the model.
Some extra credits can be given to HYRCAN for its very user-friendly interface, while we would definitely recommend it for academic or professional use.
